Guidelines for Authors

■ General Information

Journal of Biosciences and Public Health (JBPH) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in the fields of biosciences and public health. JBPH welcomes submissions of original research articles, mini and full-length review articles, and theoretical and experimental studies related to biosciences, public health, and interdisciplinary topics.

· Manuscripts must be submitted by one of the authors and should not be submitted on their behalf by any third party. The final decision on acceptance rests with the Editorial Board of JBPH.

· Manuscripts must be written in English and thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar before submission.

· Online Submission: All manuscripts must be submitted online via the Journal of Biosciences and Public Health (JBPH) website. Authors are required to register with the editorial system before submission. Please follow the "Manuscript Submission" link and upload all required files.

When submitting to JBPH, you are not required to follow any strict formatting guidelines at the initial submission stage. Once your article is accepted, our editorial team will convert it into the journal-specific format for publication.

■ Manuscript Structure: The manuscript should include the following components:         

  -Title, 

- List of authors with affiliations and details of the corresponding author,

-Abstract (up to 250 words) with Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, 

-3-6 Keywords, 

-Main text (including the introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion),

- Acknowledgement, 

-Declaration of conflict of interest, 

-References

  • Authors must ensure that their manuscript is entirely original and has less than 15% similarity as checked by plagiarism detection software.

Submission Checklist:  For all online submissions, please ensure the following materials are submitted as soft copies:

  • Cover Letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief
  • Graphical Abstract (if applicable)
  • Main Manuscript File with full author details and affiliations
  • Blinded Manuscript File without author names or affiliations for peer review)
  • Ethical Approval Document (for studies involving human or animal subjects, if applicable)
  • Figures and tables (separate files if possible)
  • Any supplementary materials (if applicable)

 

Others Important Information for Authors

1. Copyright, Licensing, and Publication Rights

  • Journal of Biosciences and Public Health (JBPH) is published under the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). This allows unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts with proper attribution.
  • Authors publishing in JBPH online journals agree to transfer the copyright of their work to JBPH Publishers, under the umbrella of the 4-Green Research Society. Submission of a manuscript implies that all listed authors have read and accepted the terms outlined in the Copyright Agreement or the journal’s Terms and Conditions.
  • As a condition of publication, manuscripts submitted to JBPH must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Plagiarism, data fabrication, or any form of academic misconduct is strictly prohibited. By submitting a manuscript, authors acknowledge that the publisher has the legal authority to take appropriate action if any such violations are detected. Furthermore, upon acceptance, authors agree to transfer full copyright of the article to the publisher.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

  • Authors must ensure that their manuscript is entirely original and has less than 15% similarity as checked by plagiarism detection software. Any use of previously published work or wording from other sources must be properly cited or quoted.
  • To verify originality, Editors may conduct similarity checks at any stage during the peer review process or after publication.
  • Authors are encouraged to use iThenticate (http://www.ithenticate.com/) or similar plagiarism detection software before submission.
  • Authors must disclose the use of any AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript.

 

  • Figures, tables, and graphs generated using AI tools are not permitted and must be prepared manually or with standard scientific software.

3. Types of Articles

The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:

i) Original Articles

  • Should present original, unpublished research.
  • Word limit: Less than 4,000 words (excluding abstract and references).
  • Abstract: Structured (up to 300 words) with Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
  • Keywords: 3 to 6 keywords should provide below the abstract for indexing purpose.
  • References: Up to 40.
  • Tables/Figures: Maximum of 6. 

ii) Short Reports (Case Reports)

  • Should provide concise but important clinical or research findings.
  • Word limit: 1,200 words (excluding abstract and references).
  • Abstract: Unstructured (up to 200 words).
  • Keywords: 3 to 6 keywords should provide below the abstract for indexing purpose.
  • References: 15–20.
  • Tables/Figures: Maximum of 3.

iii) Review Articles

  • Should provide a comprehensive overview of a relevant topic.
  • Word limit: Not more than 5,000 words (excluding abstract and references).
  • Abstract: Unstructured (up to 300 words).
  • Keywords: 3 to 6 keywords should provide below the abstract for indexing purpose.
  • References: Up to 70.
  • Tables/Figures: Maximum of 8.

iv) Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses

  • Should follow PRISMA guidelines and synthesize existing data on a topic in biosciences or public health.
  • Word limit: 4,000 words (excluding abstract and references).
  • Abstract: Unstructured (up to 350 words).
  • Keywords: 3 to 6 keywords should provide below the abstract for indexing purpose.
  • References: Up to 60.
  • Tables/Figures: Data should not be extensively repeated between text, tables, and figures.

v) Mini-Review Articles

  • Should summarize recent advances in infectious diseases, public health, and infection control.
  • Word limit: 2,500 words (excluding abstract and references).
  • Abstract: Unstructured (up to 200 words).
  • Keywords: 3 to 6 keywords should provide below the abstract for indexing purpose.
  • References: Up to 40.
  • Tables/Figures: Maximum of 4.

vi) Editorials

  • Should present perspectives or commentaries on significant scientific developments.
  • Word limit: Not more than 1,500 words.
  • References: Up to 15.
  • Tables/Figures: Maximum of 2.
  • Should provide a clear, well-supported conclusion.

 

 

4. Manuscript Structure and Preparation Guidelines 

General Formatting

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Manuscripts should be typed in a single-column format with double-spacing
  • Font Size: Title-12; Text-11; Reference-10
  • Page Layout: Left-1.75, Right-1, Top-1.75, Bottom-1.75
  • Abstracts should also be in a single-column format.
  • Keywords: 3 to 6 keywords describing the main topics of the paper should provide below the abstract for indexing purpose.
  • Reference Style: AMA 

Manuscript Structure in Details

The submission should include:

  1. Cover Letter – A cover letter confirming the research has not been published elsewhere, author contributions, and ethical compliance. All authors have participated in the study and approved the submission. 
  2. Abstract – Structured (up to 250 words) with sections: Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, along with up to five keywords.
  3. Introduction – Clearly states study objectives and provides background without excessive literature review.
  4. Methods – Describes study design must contain sufficient details to allow reproducibility, consent, data sources, and statistical analysis. 

Ethical approval:  Mention Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval and compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki.

Statistical analysis: Describe in detail, including software used and statistical significance levels (p-values).

  1. Results – Presents findings concisely without discussion or references. Data should not be duplicated in tables and figures.
  2. Discussion – Structured to include key findings, strengths and limitations, comparison with existing studies, and future research directions.
  3. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest – Authors must declare conflicts of interest, funding sources, and author contributions.
  4. References – Follow American Medical Association style (AMA style), numbered in square brackets ([1], [2,3]). Articles with more than six authors should list the first six followed by et al. For examples-

e. Conference Abstract

Format:

  1. Tables and Figures – Tables should be numbered sequentially in the text with Arabic numerals (Table 1, Table 2, etc.). Tables should be in Word or Excel format. Figures should be in JPEG, TIFF, or EPS format.
  2. Legends for figures: Legends should be short, self-explanatory and contain enough information to identify the figures and enable them to stand as a separate entity from the text.

5. Supplementary Material – Additional data, figures, animations, or tables exceeding the journal limit can be published online without editing.

6. Peer Review Process

JBPH follows a double-blind peer review process involving the editorial board and external reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief (EiC) or Co-Editor-in-Chief initially reviews submissions for suitability. All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening. If found suitable, the manuscript is assigned to an editorial board member, who invites at least two independent reviewers for evaluation.

Based on the reviewers’ feedback, the EiC makes the final decision:

  • Accept, Minor/Major Revision, or Reject
  • If revision is required, authors must address reviewers' comments before final acceptance.
  • Upon acceptance, the manuscript undergoes language editing before publication.

*The first-round decision is typically made within one weeks, with a final decision expected within 2-3 weeks. 

7. Manuscript Revision

Authors must submit a detailed response addressing reviewers’ comments and highlight changes in the revised manuscript. Revisions should be submitted within 1-3 weeks to avoid being treated as a new submission (*with some exception as per author demand).

● ✏️ Proof Correction

The corresponding author will receive an email with the galley proof and copyright form. Please follow the instructions provided and return all corrections along with the signed form within 72 hours.

Ensure that all corrections are submitted in a single response, as additional changes may not be accommodated. Final proofreading is the responsibility of the authors.

  • Reprints: Authors will receive a free WORD copy of the online article.
  • Permissions: Any reproduced material must have proper authorization.

8.Privacy Statement

Personal information (names, emails) collected by the journal will only be used for its intended purpose and will not be shared with third parties.

9.Article Publishing Charge (APC)

From January 2026, JBPH will require an APC for accepted papers to support open-access publishing. Payment is due only after acceptance and does not influence editorial decisions.
